What people say about Kiwi Can

What Kiwi Can students say:

“Kiwi Can has helped me with lots of different things. For example, we have learned about manners, healthy eating and communicating with others.” (student)

“It is wonderful to know that Kiwi Can is by our side to help us with our lives. The leaders are very kind to us and they never let us down.” (student)

“Our school is very lucky to have Kiwi Can because most schools don’t have Kiwi Can.” (student)

“Kiwi Can Trust taught me the difference between ‘May I’ and ‘Can I’ even my Mum didn’t know that!” (student)

What Kiwi Can Schools say:

“The Kiwi Can values programme supports the foundation and stepping-stones of our school vision where ‘educational dreams become reality’. Koru School began this programme to meet a need of providing a sense of value structures for the students. The programme has now evolved to become a core component of our school curriculum and school life.”

Stan Whata – Principal - Koru School - Otara

“We required a philosophy or programme which complemented the strong positive, caring approach that we wished to foster in our school. Kiwi Can fitted that concept brilliantly.

The kiwi can leaders project an entirely different dynamic into the learning culture of the school. They definitely add value to the social capital of the students of this school.”

Phil Palfrey (M.Ed Admin (Hon), B.A, Dip Tching) - Principal - Manurewa East School – Manurewa

“Behaviour management for class teachers was becoming an ongoing issue. Some class teachers were having to contend with wasted learning time for the students due to frequent disruptions. Tension in teaching is a negative factor and this effects class teachers which consequently affects the learners. After one term, I could confidently say that the Kiwi Can Trust programme had addressed these issues in a positive and proactive way. This programme will have tremendous individual and collective benefits in all areas of learning for our students”

Dubs Rai- Deputy Principal -Mayfield School- Otara

What the ‘experts’ say:

External evaluations substantiate the success Kiwi Can is achieving with life skills, values, behavioural and attitude changes and crime prevention. Kiwi Can is making a direct and positive impact on the students participating in the programme. The first external evaluation completed in 1998 by Massey University showed extremely positive results. Carol Page, researcher for Massey University, concluded that " I have conducted many evaluations in many different areas over the years and it must be said that this is the most glowing result found".

Since then, external evaluation from the Ministry of Education, Waikato University and Palmerston North College of Humanities & Social Sciences have all given Kiwi Can the thumbs up.
