Wellington Kiwi Can
Kiwi Can Wellington signs up four new schools!
Kiwi Can Wellington has grown rapidly this year with four new schools signing up to the programme. Kiwi Can will start again at Tui Glen and Russell School with new St Claudine's and Upper Hutt Primary Schools starting in term two.
Kiwi Can Wellington Leaders are looking forward to teaching at the new schools and continuing their positive work in schools across the region.
Students at Trentham recently learnt about Rules, Attitudes, the Law and Me with some in-depth discussions and students making a huge effort in their behaviour. It was really great to see!
Testimonials:
"Trentham School began the Kiwi Can programme as a newly merged school at the beginning of 2005 following the Government's Upper Hutt Network Review. The long term aim was to assist staff and complement other initiatives to develop the culture of the new school, both in terms of behaviour and learning. Visitors to the school speak positively about both of these things and of the friendly children. According to anecdotal evidence our aim is being achieved. Negative behaviour incidents decreased from the second half of last year and achievement levels are gradually rising. Children and teachers are enthusiastic about attending their weekly Kiwi Can session and this is reflected formally in weekly written comments and informally in various discussions." Principal Ian MacIndoe, Trentham School
